the purpose of making Flatbush Avenue a safer and cleaner shopping
avenue and upgrading the quality of life in the community. The
area covering Flatbush Avenue from the southside of Parkside Avenue to
the northside of Cortelyou Road. All monies for our operation
are paid for by self assesments of our merchants and property owners.
The funds are collected by the city and returned to us.
The
Flatbush Ave BID provides security for our avenue. We have
uniformed officers on patrol seven days a week.
Flatbush
Ave (BID area) is swept 7 days a week by our sanitation crew. We
sweep every sidewalk up to 18 inches from the curb. The refuse
is bagged for pickup by the New York City Sanitation Department.
The
Flatbush Ave BID area is kept graffiti free. Everybody loves it
including our customers and neighborhood residents.

interest to the avenue. We also provide Christmas/Holiday

Caribbean/American Labor Day Parade and Festival. This
extravaganza takes place on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. It is
one of the largest parades in New York City attracting over 2,000,000
people. We sponsor a float with music and dancers in their
colorful native costumes.
On
Thanksgiving Day, we sponsor a dinner for the indigent and homeless at the
Dutch Reform Church located in our area. We do the same on Christmas.
