The Flatbush Ave Business Improvement District (BID) is a non-profit entity.  We were organized in 1989 by merchants and owners for the purpose of making Flatbush Avenue a safer and cleaner shopping avenue and upgrading the quality of life in the community.  The area covering Flatbush Avenue from the southside of Parkside Avenue to the northside of Cortelyou Road.  All monies for our operation are paid for by self assesments of our merchants and property owners.  The funds are collected by the city and returned to us.

The Flatbush Ave BID provides security for our avenue.  We have uniformed officers on patrol seven days a week.

Flatbush Ave (BID area) is swept 7 days a week by our sanitation crew.  We sweep every sidewalk up to 18 inches from the curb.  The refuse is bagged for pickup by the New York City Sanitation Department.

The Flatbush Ave BID area is kept graffiti free.  Everybody loves it including our customers and neighborhood residents.

Flatbush Avenue (between Parkside Avenue and Cortelyou Road) has become one of the major shopping avenues in Brooklyn. THE FLATBUSH AVE BID BOASTS 250 SHOPS THAT HAVE ALL YOUR FAVORITE BRANDS FOR LESS.  We have boutiques and specialty shops that carry unique ethnic merchandise.  many national chains are also located on Flatbush Avenue.  We can satisfy every customers needs.

We distribute our Flatbush Ave BID Business Bulletin throughout the year.  We keep our customers informed by local newspapers and radio.  We also publish a "SUPER SAVER" several times a year with 30,000 copies hand distributed locally.

The Flatbush Avenue BID provides seasonal banners that add color and interest to the avenue.  We also provide Christmas/Holiday lighting and banners.

The Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District is a participant in the Caribbean/American Labor Day Parade and Festival.  This extravaganza takes place on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn.  It is one of the largest parades in New York City attracting over 2,000,000 people.  We sponsor a float with music and dancers in their colorful native costumes.

On Thanksgiving Day, we sponsor a dinner for the indigent and homeless at the Dutch Reform Church located in our area. We do the same on Christmas.

THE GOAL OF THE FLATBUSH AVE BID IS TO BUILD A BETTER FLATBUSH COMMUNITY AND GREAT SHOPPING AVENUE.
